Delicious Food, Great Entertainment and a Lovely Stay All Round – Review of Campsie Glen Holiday Park

There are plenty of accommodation choices here, from caravans, lodges and cabins (pet-friendly options available).  They also have a touring field where you can bring your own caravan or motorhome – and if you want to stay longer, they even offer seasonal pitches!

Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the friendly and efficient staff, who made the check-in process a breeze. Our accommodation was a pet-friendly, two-bedroom caravan, complete with a hot tub and as I would expect from a Largo park, everything was finished to a higher than average standard, with extra attention paid to all the little details.

Our caravan was spotless, tastefully decorated, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay and extremely comfortable beds with really deep mattresses – heaven. The hot tub was a real highlight for us—ready to use, nice and warm and the perfect way to unwind after our journey.

The park itself is nestled in a stunning location, surrounded by beautiful scenery on all sides and there are lots of  pretty cafes and restaurants within easy reach.

For those looking to explore further afield, Campsie Glen is perfectly situated within easy reach of many attractions and things to do.

Our favourite experience was a boat trip on Loch Lomond which we managed to catch on a beautiful day, around half an hour’s drive from the park.

Brilliant for all ages, this really is a must-do, but if you would rather stay within a ten minute drive, the Lake of Menteith offers boat trips across to Inchmahome Priory, the former home of Mary Queen of Scots.  History lovers will also love Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument in nearby Sterling, which is about fifteen minutes drive, along with several large supermarkets, although the on-site reception shop and the village shop in Kippen are both handy if you just need the essentials.

Oh – and speaking about driving here, even if you don’t get out of the car, driving in this area is a spectacular experience, we were both guilty of uttering ‘ooohs’ and ‘aaahs’ as we saw the scenery from yet another angle… you could never tire of seeing it, and I challenge you to not take it home with you in your heart.

This really is one of the most stunning parts of the world, with plenty of beautiful walks in and around Campsie Glen with lots of glorious mountain scenery.  Where else can you take in the beauty of Campsie Glen, visit Loch Lomond and the Trossachs and explore the incredible history of Sterling all in one trip?

However, for those who are more laid back and interested in walking, shopping, or sampling local pubs, there’s something for everyone – we definitely recommend visiting the local farm shops at Smiddys and the Woodhouse at Kippen.

We found plenty to do both onsite and within easy reach.  Our dog, Meg, really appreciated the generous dog walking area, which was kept immaculately clean, but there are also lots of pretty walks from the park itself.

One of the highlights for us was the immaculate onsite swimming pool at Campsie Glen, which we used when Meg had her morning nap. It was exceptionally clean and well-kept, providing a refreshing way to start the day and burn off some calories the morning after indulging in the fantastic food in the on-site Bistro, which in my opinion is well above the average holiday park – in fact if it was nearer to our home in South Wales, we’d eat there daily!

The Bistro’s separate dog-friendly dining area was a thoughtful touch, ensuring all guests had an enjoyable dining experience, but there are just so many positives about eating here. The food was home-cooked, absolutely delicious, and the staff were knowledgeable and attentive, making our meals there even more enjoyable.   We also found the food at the nearby Fintry Inn excellent (which we visited en route as we were early arriving!)

We ate here twice during our three night stay (which turned out to be two and a half, our poorly cat meant us coming home to Wales in the early hours of the morning after our last night, which was a shame – but of course, it gives us an excuse to return!)

As well as a pool table during the week and extremely friendly staff, the bar also featured excellent entertainment on Saturday night from the talented Andy Jackson – honestly, what’s not to love?

Overall, Campsie Glen Holiday Park exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of excellent accommodation, superb amenities, and outstanding customer service made our stay truly memorable – this is our second stay with Largo and honestly, if you are choosing between parks, we’d choose Largo every time.

We can’t wait to return and would highly recommend it to anyone, families or couples looking for a top-notch holiday experience – and to anyone looking for a rural and tranquil holiday home that’s easily accessible from the major cities in Scotland, and currently having caravans priced from just £19,995, this fantastic site really does have it all.
