McLaren’s Oscar Piastri Donates Race-Worn Helmet to Support Children’s Cancer Charity

Formula 1 star Oscar Piastri is putting his racing memorabilia to work for a worthy cause, donating his official race-worn helmet from the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix to raise funds for My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.
The Australian driver has partnered with F1 Authentics to auction the signed helmet, with all proceeds going directly to the volunteer-led charity that supports families affected by childhood cancer.
The auction will run from October 7-21, 2025, coinciding with the United States Grand Prix weekend.

A Rare Collector’s Item for a Good Cause
Race-used F1 driver helmets are exceptionally rare finds for collectors, particularly those from Piastri, who rarely makes such items available for purchase. The helmet being auctioned marked the opening race of the 2024 season and the beginning of what would become a breakthrough year for the McLaren driver.
That season saw Piastri secure his first F1 victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, followed by another win in Azerbaijan. Now in 2025, he’s competing for his first World Championship title, cementing his status as one of the sport’s rising stars.
Personal Connection to the Cause
Piastri’s decision to donate the helmet stems from his role as ambassador for My Room, an Australian children’s cancer charity dedicated to supporting affected families while funding essential services and research. The organisation works to provide hope and practical support to young patients and their loved ones during challenging times.
“I hope that it will prove a popular item and a significant sum can be generated to go directly towards the tremendous work that My Room does,” Piastri commented on the donation.
Margaret Zita OAM, CEO of My Room, expressed her gratitude for the driver’s support, noting how the donation will help raise vital funds for clinical care and research while bringing awareness to the challenges families face.
