New research from used car platform FindAndFundMyCar.com, has revealed the most popular cars for 2023, and which models Brits are after for their next set of wheels.

By analysing Google search data, it has crunched trends and UK searches to unveil the most searched cars and predict which manufacturers and models we will be trading in for in 2023.

Matt Lucas, head of partnerships and transformation at findandfundmycar.com says:

2022 was a bit of an anomaly in the automotive industry, with new car shortages meaning that used cars held value or were kept for longer than usual. Despite the financial appeal of keeping a car to see if its value increases, sometimes the temptation to upgrade or switch motors to meet changing needs is too much. This is why we’ve taken a deep dive in UK search data to spot trends; as for all personal research – cars included – Brits turn to Google. Which is evident from our study, as the 10 most popular cars in the UK amassed 9.6 million searches in the last year alone!”

“It’s interesting to see which models are growing in popularity and how the growth and social spotlight of manufacturers like Tesla in the last year is impacting what vehicles we want. The Kia Sportage as the top car for 2023 is no surprise though. The manufacturer has an attractive 7 year warranty spanning well into second or third owners of used models. It also is ideal for families, road trips, or those who want a reliable SUV,” concludes Matt.

However, when it comes to models with the biggest interest spike in the last year the MG4 has seen the biggest jump in searches, with a 18,806% increase in searches from 2021. The Dacia Jogger had the second biggest annual jump with a 402% increase in searches year-on-year.
