It would be understandable if you were to presume that there isn’t much else left in 2022 to which to look forward as far as the motoring world is concerned. After all, as of the time of typing, the summer is rapidly passing by, and you might be more worried about Halloween or even getting some early Christmas shopping done, than heading to a car-related event.

But the fact is, there are definitely still a few highlights left of the 2022 automotive calendar, and we wouldn’t want you to miss them. So, let’s put the spotlight on just three of them.

The British Motor Show, 18th to 21st August

The event might have happened by the time you read this, but nonetheless, the 2022 running of one of the world’s most celebrated motor shows promised to be one to get seriously excited about at the time of writing.

How excited? Well, it was only in 2021 that the British Motor Show was given a fit-for-the-2020s revamp after the COVID-19 pandemic, and held at Farnborough International for the first time.

You can discover the latest news about the 2022 event at thebritishmotorshow.live, but according to a blog post published a week ahead of the event, hundreds of vehicles were set to be put on display. Expect the likes of the extremely rare Ferrari Monza SP2, the all-electric Subaru Solterra in its first public show appearance, and even a full-size replica of Danger Mouse’s car, among many other ‘star cars’.

The Paris Motor Show, 17th to 23rd October

Whether you refer to it as the Paris Motor Show or – to use the French – Mondial de l’Automobile, there is no question of its continued status as one of the world’s most important auto shows.

The 2022 event is set to take place at the Parc des Expositions de la Porte de Versailles in late October, and with this marking the first running of the show since 2018 due to coronavirus disruption, it promises to be a special one.

You can find more information about the show when you point your browser at mondial.paris. Director Serge Gachot has promised “a total immersion in the car of the 21st century”, and “a new, immersive and experiential format: a reinvented visitor path, enriched daily programming, the pleasure of seeing, touching and, as never before, trying out the manufacturers’ models, with an ambitious ‘test drive’ system accessible to all.”

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, 20th November

The race at the Hermann Tilke-designed Yas Marina Circuit may have only been added to the Formula One calendar in 2009, but it has produced many memorable encounters since then. The 2021 Grand Prix was extremely controversial on account of a disputed safety-car decision that helped Red Bull’s Max Verstappen to overtake Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton – and claim the 2021 drivers’ title in the process.

With Verstappen enjoying a comfortable lead in the 2022 championship standings at the time of typing, it remains to be seen whether he might clinch the title long before the teams arrive in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this time around. Still, rivals such as Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Red Bull driver Sergio Pérez will be anxious to close the points gap to the Dutchman before then.

Could you do with a set of wheels to take you to great motoring events like the above? If so, it could be worth getting in touch with a car finance broker such as Car Finance Genie, so that you can be sure of making the purchase of your desired vehicle possible in late 2022.
